"Oli Klarino" aka Some Great Greek Clarinet Instrumentals!
Man oh man I’m addicted to this set. I’ve long loved instrumental music from various eastern and south eastern European and middle-eastern countries (my dad loved the bouzouki-heavy Theodorakis soundtrack for Zorba the Greek, which got me hooked at age 5). A relatively recent release called “Oli Klarino” is a 3 CD collection of Greek instrumentals featuring the clarinet. It’s obviously marketed to a Greek-only audience (every word on the discs is in Greek using the Greek alphabet), and good luck finding it on iTunes or Amazon or the usual places (Google it and some Greek and specialty vendors will show up). If you like stuff like the Zorba music, klezmer, Ivo Papasov and his Bulgarian Wedding Band, or even John Zorn’s Bar Kokhba, give it a whirl (or maybe a Sirtaki).
